Brendon N. Brandao is an associate at Wiley Petersen whose practice focuses primarily on civil
litigation, including premises liability, insurance defense, automobile liability, personal injury,
and appellate matters. Prior to joining Wiley Petersen, Brendon practiced at a national defense
firm, where he represented insurance carriers and corporate defendants in civil litigation
involving premises liability and automobile liability claims.
Brendon brings significant judicial experience to his practice. He served as a judicial law clerk
to the Honorable Chief Judge Michael P. Gibbons of the Nevada Court of Appeals, where he
gained insight into how appellate courts approach preservation issues, standards of review,
statutory interpretation, and persuasive written advocacy. That experience informs his
approach to motion practice and case strategy, including how to frame issues clearly, develop
the record, and preserve arguments at the trial-court level.
He also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mary Kay Holthus of the Eighth Judicial
District Court, where he developed a practical understanding of Nevada trial-court practice
from the bench’s perspective, including the considerations that shape motion practice,
settlement conferences, and trial preparation.
During law school, Brendon served as an Articles Editor for the Nevada Law Journal and
externed for the Honorable James C. Mahan of the United States District Court for the District
of Nevada. He also gained early litigation experience at a respected Las Vegas plaintiff’s firm,
giving him insight into how cases are developed and litigated from both sides of the bar.
